Esther E.A.N. Sackey, PhD., is the founder and Chief Executive Director of Health Educators and Providers Inc., a role in which she combines her unique blend of experience in Journalism and Social Work, Leadership and Change, and her knowledge and expertise in nonprofit management. She is responsible for mobilizing advocacy efforts through broadening support for needed logistics in providing medical health for people living in disadvantaged communities. She strives for the increased and improved provision of education and training of health professionals, particularly in Ghana and West Africa.

Having worked as a reporter for over ten years with newspapers and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Dr. Sackey covered assignments related to real-life experiences of extreme poverty. She witnessed the impact of inadequate physical and mental health care on disadvantaged communities in Ghana and migrant communities in the US. Such experiences ignited a strong passion for advocacy to improve the lives of people who have difficulty accessing medical assistance and other basic needs. As a Social Worker in the US, she worked with troubled children in detention and adults living with mental illness.

Dr. Sackey brings to the job a passion for convening diverse groups of people from the public and private sectors to expand the capacity of HEAPI.Org to deliver better services and value to its clients. Her career in the nonprofit arena, which began while earning a master’s degree in social work at Case Western Reserve University, has afforded her a comprehensive view of the opportunities and challenges accompanying change. She is a counselor and advocates who works to improve the lives of juveniles in detention and adults living with mental illness. Dr. Sackey has learned about the importance of collaboration and the power of public support in providing medical care and counseling to people living in deprived communities in the US.
